About Me:
I can remember my first drumset from the 1970's which, I believe, had heads that were made from cardboard! I loved playing the drums and started lessons in elementary school on the snare drum and percussion. I'm still not quite sure how my parents put up with the constant, loud banging of a youngster?!?! Eventually, I began to play the drumset in junior high and joined the school jazz band. Throughout high school and college, I was fortunate enough to spend time in multiple bands and toured a good portion of New England. During these same years, I developed a significant interest in mixing and recording, spending time in different recording studios, playing drums for various groups/artists. This was such a great time of learning & opportunity for me because I was drumming on these various projects but I was also getting exposed to how the "pros" recorded, mixed and mastered. I found it quite fascinating and, around that same time (1980s/1990s), setting up a personal recording studio was becoming more affordable for the average person because of all the advances in digital technology. It was, at this point, that I bought some equipment and began recording, first, with various 4 (and 8) track analog units from Tascam/Clarion but then, later, with Cakewalk Pro Audio with Lexicon (& Other) A/D and D/A converters. I recorded a number of band & solo projects and continued to upgrade my equipment over time. Separately, I also began to delve into writing music, taking a very helpful music theory class at Berklee College of Music. I've always found the music-writing and recording process invigorating and decided I needed to do something more about it.
